Our Story
Tropical Joe’s started as a simple idea: bake good bread in a town that deserves good bread. No corporate playbook, no shortcuts — just flour, water, salt, and enough time for the dough to do what it needs to do.
Over the years, we grew from a single oven into a full-service bakery and grocery destination right here in Fort Scott. We source locally whenever we can, keep our selection honest, and treat every customer like they just walked into someone’s kitchen — because that’s exactly what it is.
What We Offer
Every item on our shelves earned its place. Here’s what you’ll find when you walk in.
Sourdough, ciabatta, focaccia, and seasonal loaves — all mixed and baked on-site, every morning before the doors open.
Croissants, danishes, pies, and cookies — made from scratch with butter, not shortcuts. They sell out; that’s not a problem, that’s a schedule.
Pantry staples, local goods, and everyday essentials — curated so you don’t have to hunt for things that actually taste right.
We partner with nearby farms and producers to bring you items you won’t find in a big-box store. If it’s not worth carrying, we skip it.
Planning an event? We handle custom orders, party platters, and catering for gatherings of all sizes around Fort Scott.
We sponsor local events, support school programs, and keep our doors open for people who just need a warm place to stop by.

Kind Words
“I’ve been coming here every Saturday for the sourdough. It’s the only bread I’ll eat now. Everything else just tastes like foam.”
— Fort Scott Regular“They remembered my name after the first visit. That’s not something you get at a chain. The groceries are solid too — actually good olive oil and spices.”
— Local Customer“We ordered a catering platter for our family reunion and everyone asked where it came from. Joe’s is the real deal — no pretense, just good food.”
